Have you had one of those days when you just can’t bring yourself to do what you know you should do, but just hate to do, and then feel bad and guilty about not doing it?

It could be something minor, such as taking out the trash, tidying up the room, or doing the dishes, etc. Or it could be something important, such as going to the gym, getting back to a client, or reviewing a goal you are not making progress on.

We probably all have those days. It’s fine if it happens occasionally, but when it starts to become a pattern in your life, you may want to treat it seriously. Maybe it’s time for you to stop habitually avoiding what you hate to do.

You may not always realise that often what you hate to do is actually good for you. That includes things you need to do to reach your goal, but you just don’t naturally feel like doing. I think the key is to break the pattern of always judging whether you will do something based on whether you like it or not. Personally I find it quite uplifting every time I go out of my way to do at least two or three things each day that I would normally avoid doing.

It’s similar to the idea of “Eat That Frog” first thing in the morning. Instead of hating and avoiding what you know is good for you and the right thing to do, start shifting your attitude or mindset, and cultivate the habit of intentionally completing a few things you don’t like to do every day.
